And let Italy rise up! Let there be only one flag, one country!
The story of the Brescia Risorgimento takes place over a time frame that starts from 1789 to the birth of the Italian Constitution of 1948, which constitutes its legacy, following a journey that is divided into eight sections, all identified by a single word that summarizes its meaning: revolution, dissent, insurrection, war, unity, participation, myth, legacy. The finds and the art collection, the multimedia and interactive tools and the exhibition structure are intertwined and interact, giving life to a narrative device that draws a direct link between the history of the Risorgimento and contemporaneity, giving back to the visitor its atmospheres, sounds, colors as well as the cultural heritage, the historical profile of the events and the figures of the protagonists.

The set-up
The distribution between the sections takes place through the sign of a lightweight modular structure in blue steel, which is divided between the pillars of the central span of the Great Mile space. A solution that respects the original architecture, assuming its order as its generative matrix, declining in multiple and different forms to integrate and connect cases and finds, opaque diaphragms for paintings, datatelling graphic elements, and a specific presence of multimedia installations and interactive exhibits that offer a wide range of insights and immersive moments. Throughout the route, which runs along the three naves into which the space is divided, a strip of light placed near the final section, on which the articles of the Italian Constitution flow, is always visible, like a beacon. This installation wants to symbolize how the words and concepts contained in the constitutional charter, of which an original copy is present in a case, are the crowning of the Risorgimento struggles.

The Great Atlas of the Risorgimento
It is outlined as a large mirrored prism, almost invisible, at the center of the path; in a barycentric position with respect to the floor plan, accessible from both side wings. Through the interaction with a timeline, it allows you to explore in detail the events of two centuries of history on a European, Italian and Brescia scale, divided into ten stages, illustrating in detail the events, battles, social movements, up to contemporaneity.

The Ten Days
The mirrored, off-scale cubic volume defines an internal environment, occupying an entire span of pillars. Obscured and collected, it constructs an immersive intervention that tells, with animations and a spatialized sound background, the historic days of the Brescia insurrection, marking the story for every single day.

Theater at the museum
Another fundamental element of the multimedia infrastructure is the idea of theatrical performance. In fact, along the various sections, some stations are distributed from which it is possible to take advantage of testimonies and readings of works of the time interpreted both by important actors of the Italian theater scene, such as Giole Dix, Maria Paiato, Daniele Squassina, and by young students of the Dramatic Academy of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. These, some testimonies interpreted by the students, can be found in an interactive exhibit entirely dedicated to the Garibaldini Bresciani, where it is worth stressing that photographic portraits are present of each of them. In the same area there are finds and objects that belonged to the protagonists.
